Located in the town of Buckeye, the Active Adult Communities of Sundance Active Adult and Sun City Festival offer a variety of affordable housing options and an abundance of leisure time activities.
Sundance Active Adult Community, is an intimate, 1,102-lot community within the 2,000-acre Sundance Master Planned Development. Sundance opened for sales in January 2002 and bills itself as the "value leader" of area active adult homes. Amenities at Sundance Active Adult Include: 15,000-square-foot recreation center with a grand ballroom, billiard room, two pools, 2,000 square feet dedicated to fitness and a spa, golf course with a restaurant and a pro shop.
Sun City Festival by Del Webb is located in the northwest portion of Buckeye, roughly 12 miles west of Surprise on Sun Valley Parkway. This Active Adult Community is right at the base of the beautiful White Tank Mountains. It's about 75 minutes from Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport. There are over 1600 homes already complete, and there will be 5600 additional homes built. The 31,000 square foot Sage Recreation Center offers a state of the art fitness center, creative arts and crafts rooms, game rooms, social hall, and ASU Center for higher learning. A new 9000 square foot wood shop and craft center is currently under construction which will offer additional space for more leisure time activities. Of course, there's a spectacular heated pool and a day spa. The Copper Canyon golf course, designed by Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley and managed by Troon, is the first of 2 courses for the community. There are 12 models available ranging from 1100 square feet to over 2900 square feet. Resale homes are available as well.
Buckeye is known as Arizona's Biggest Small Town. In the fall there is the Country Fest and in the spring comes the Pioneer Days. Buckeye has a group that is highly active in the Senior Programming Community Action Program which works on Social Service Activities. This means the seniors have plenty of fun events here.
